I currently offer three services: building CLI apps, optimizing C++ code, and writing python scripts. If you’re interested in hiring me, here’s what you can expect.

Build A CLI App Link to heading

The command-line interface is something mostly Linux users concern themselves with, but make no mistake it is still a universal interface. Need a small utility that would only be dragged down by a GUI? Have a huge library of functions that you want to use the CLI to interface with? Whatever the case, I can build you a fast, lean C++ CLI app. I can’t promise it’ll always be cross-platform, but I will always make it as cross-compatible as I can. The rate for CLI Apps is quoted on a per-project basis. I charge more for more complex or larger scoped projects. The typical rate for a small utility is just $125, while more complicated projects can reach up to $300. However, these prices are not set in stone - they’re just a ballpark estimate, and I may charge outside of this range! I will provide a written quote once we discuss requirements, so you’ll know the cost before work begins. I’ll also give you an ETA on how long it’ll take me to get the project done, but I can’t predict everything - take this estimate with a grain of salt.

Optimize C++ Code Link to heading

C++ is a complex language used to make complex software. It’s filled with nuance, quirks, and legacy baggage, but it’s my language of choice. I know a lot about computer science, and how C++ works, including all the nitty-gritty semantics. I also know a lot about programming in general, something I talk about more on my About page. If your code needs to use less CPU, less memory, or even just needs a good refactor, I can help with that. If you want to see how I write code from scratch, check out spilled-milk and ez-lib.

The rate for this service is a static $50 per hour. In order to eliminate ambiguity and keep things straightforward, this rate is unfortunately non-negotiable. However, this also means it isn’t depenedent on the scope or complexity of the project. Small codebases that need minor touchups are the same rate as large codebases that need a lot of elbow grease.

Write A Python Script Link to heading

Got a simple, repetitive task? Something that feels like a chore? Anything manual can be automated - and with Python, it’s cross-platform. Linux users, Windows users, even macOS users, can all benefit from the power of Python. If you need something automated, i’m your guy. You can check out my file-org-toolkit project to see some of my handiwork.

The rate for this service is a flat $100. Python is a high level language that allows me to prototype fast, so expect results within a day or two. The flat rate covers typical small automation scripts; if the request grows into a larger application, we can revisit the quote.
